Welcome to the New York State EAS Resource Site

This Website is intended to support the Emergency Alert System (EAS) utilized by Broadcasters in New York.

The EAS provides not only the President, but national, state and local authorities, with the ability to give emergency information to the general public via broadcast stations, cable and wireless cable systems. While participation in national EAS alerts is mandatory for these providers, state and local area EAS participation is voluntary.

In cooperation with the FCC, the New York State Emergency Communications Committee (SECC) has completely rewritten the New York State EAS Plan. The system will be more robust and more responsive to state wide and local county needs. The SECC is made up of members from the New York State Broadcasters Association representing the state's radio and television broadcasters, the State Emergency Management Office, the cable community and the Public Service Commission.
